ICU & Critical Care
Life-critical equipment for intensive care and emergency medicine across Africa.
Africa has 2.5 ICU beds per 100,000 people.
By comparison, Europe averages 25 ICU beds per 100,000 — ten times Africa's capacity. The shortage is not only beds: it is the ventilators, patient monitors, emergency trolleys and airway equipment that determine whether critically ill patients survive. When a patient arrives in respiratory failure and the ventilator is broken, or the crash cart is not stocked — the outcome is predictable. Jos•Hansen exists to prevent that outcome.
Multi-mode ventilation for all acuity levels.
Siare Engineering ICU ventilators (Italy) support volume-controlled, pressure-controlled, SIMV, CPAP and NPPV ventilation modes — covering everything from acute respiratory failure to weaning protocols. Built-in battery backup and auto-restart after power interruption ensure continuous ventilatory support through the power cuts that are a daily reality in African hospitals.
Continuous surveillance across the ICU.
Mindray bedside monitors track ECG, SpO2, NIBP, temperature, EtCO2 and invasive pressures — with intelligent alarm management and central monitoring station integration for ward-wide patient surveillance. Jos•Hansen configures and installs complete ICU monitoring networks, trains clinical staff on alarm management and provides preventive maintenance under scheduled service contracts.

Emergency readiness in under two minutes.
Pre-configured crash carts with standardised, colour-coded drug drawer layouts, defibrillators and airway kits ensure resuscitation teams are ready within 2 minutes of an emergency alert. Standardised layouts reduce medication errors in high-stress resuscitation scenarios — a critical safety measure in environments where staff turnover is high. Jos•Hansen supplies restocking consumables and AED batteries with rapid local delivery.
Critical care support. Not just critical care equipment.
Supplying a ventilator without the service capability to keep it running is not a solution. Jos•Hansen provides the engineering support, consumable supply and monitoring infrastructure that determines whether ICU equipment stays operational.
48-hour engineer dispatch, East Africa-wide
Our biomedical engineers are deployed across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and beyond. A critical ventilator fault triggers an engineer dispatch within 48 hours — not a call centre ticket and a week's wait.
Manufacturer-certified field engineers
Our engineers are factory-trained by Siare Engineering and Mindray — not generalist technicians. Preventive maintenance, corrective repairs and software updates are performed to OEM specifications, not approximations.
Crash cart consumable supply
We supply restocking consumables, AED batteries, defibrillator pads and airway kit components with rapid local delivery — so crash carts are always stocked to protocol specification, not depleted after the last emergency.
ICU monitoring network configuration
We design and install complete ICU central monitoring networks — cabling, server configuration, display stations and alarm relay — so ward-wide patient surveillance functions as a system from day one.
Precision you can specify.
ICU procurement decisions need to be defensible. These are the performance figures your intensivist and biomedical engineering team will hold us to.
